The International Conference on Islamic Education (ICIED) is one of the annual forums held since 2016. In 2023 it will be the 8th activity with the theme “Strengthening Educational Institutions in Advancing the Moderate, Inclusive and Disability-Friendly Islamic Education“. This theme is a form of follow-up to the formulation of the “Surabaya Charter/Surabaya Charter” Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) 2023 which was held by the Ministry of Religion on 2-5 May 2023. One of the important points of the “Surabaya Charter” is Preserving the diversity within a tolerant and peaceful co-existence that implements the principles of religious moderation, equality and justice.
The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training as one of the oldest faculties at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has a responsibility to strengthen the role of education in maintaining diversity and maintaining a tolerant and peaceful coexistence that applies the principles of moderation, equality and justice. Apart from that, as a real form of Islamic Religious Higher Education in responding to the policies of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion regarding religious moderation, the FITK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang considers it necessary to hold a forum that brings together education and religious experts to reformulate and provide reinforcement to current and future educational institutions.
